A Brand Identity that Sells Itself and Connects with its Clients

Sean McCoy a software developer turned massage therapist. Created and built a scheduling platform that bypasses third parties and gives control back to the company. A beautiful idea that end up growing and branched into something so much more.

Sean McCoy a software developer turned massage therapist. Created and built a scheduling platform that bypasses third parties and gives control back to the company. A beautiful idea that branched into something so much more.

Now I got to sit down with Sean and discuss the company itself and the whole idea behind why he created what he created and the mending in the businesses and what he was truly offering as an end product to people.

Sean built and created a basic landing page that offered the simplistic understanding of what ScheduleYourClient.com was about but this was not working in anyway. No one was interested and he wanted to start finding a way to hook some clients and people.

This is where I came in and we proceeded to dig deep.

Building something from absolutely nothing.

Approaching this project was something I had not typically faced before: a company or idea with nothing already defining or labeling it. So many times, I have recreated logos and branding in school and other projects, but this was my first attempt at branding something that had never existed before. This meant a whole new world of creative opportunity.

I started my creative process by breaking down the key words and elements of the company and what they offered. I was really working from all angles since I didn’t have anything to start with. I began looking over what was already there and quickly noticed that none of it worked. It didn’t relate to the company, and it wasn’t personal enough.

The key factor I walked away with was knowing that the logo needed to be something that could become the face and voice of the company. To me, that meant a mascot. I began my search and digging again, and that’s when things really clicked. We were branding and building something that, in the end, provides support, whether that’s scheduling support for a company or support through the scheduling system itself.

Then I started thinking about scheduling and how we often organize our lives around time, dates, and even the stars. Who do we most commonly associate with the stars? Astronauts. Astronauts provide support, and they also receive support from Houston back on Earth. At that point, the search was over, and the creative process truly began.

With my direction now being understood and knowing how I wanted to work my angle I began sketching and working out exactly how this mascot was going to look. I knew that we needed to think chat bubble on the back end so that’s what made me keep the helmet separate form the rest of the body but it still had the astronaut effect with the helmet setup and build.

This all sounds so simple but it took time and patience and working with so many different angles and ideas. I even created an original logo that ended up getting shot down and we had to readdress the drawing board.

Finally we landed on the final outcome, Roger, the logo, mascot, face and voice of ScheduleYourClient.com comes to life. With this I was able to build Icons and other visual elements that all fit the personas of the company and we even created Roger in different styles and ways to allow for him to feel more approachable and friendly.
